Championing National Parks for Everyone: Evaluation

CHAMPIONING NATIONAL PARKS FOR EVERYONE: EVALUATION

Wafer Hadley is working with Peak District Mosaic to evaluate the Championing National Parks for Everyone project, funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund.

A wealth of research over the last 20 years consistently highlights that England’s national parks, despite enshrining the principle of equitable enjoyment for all, are not accessed equally by our diverse society. Natural England estimates that people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds comprise just 1% of visitors to national parks, despite making up around 18% of England’s population.

This project is part of the movement to address this inequality, working with community members to build confidence and spread benefit through networks. The Wafer Hadley team is working closely with Peak District Mosaic and three national parks; North York Moors National Park, Yorkshire Dales National Park, and Peak District National Park; to measure the impact.
